I know...you're wondering what happened to July right?  Absolutely no idea folks!  One Big Highlight of last month was going to Silverstone with Fox.  We camped out for 2 nights for the British Gran Prix.  I think I had about 6 hours sleep in the whole time we were there...definitely gonna get some better tents for next time.  And next time?  Well we're definitely thinking about going to Monza next year although I've also been thinking about going to Hockenheim and could possibly meet up with a mate from work whilst we're there.  Have to run it past Fox first though and see what he thinks.

Meanwhile I'm trying to set up some gallery pages; Antenna doesn't do slideshows very well so I'm looking at other web-design progs and playing with some slideshow utilities.  Hopefully you'll be able to see our Silverstone pics fairly soon.  Ironically though there's none of the actual race cos I was so busy watching and didn't want to miss a minute!

I have to admit that I'm miffed.  We house, give benefits and even schools and related language options to people from other countries.  We open our national doors wide and invite them in with seemingly little restriction.  Yet we can't look after our own.

My ex-wife hasn't been blessed with the benefit of wonderful health yet she's done a lot to struggle to get over any health problems, has had various therapies for various problems and has pushed hard to get herself back to work.  Yet today I learned that she has been turned down for DLA - Disability Living Allowance.  It's something for which she has had to try and get with back-up from doctors and friends and I know that, just going to that effort, for a single mum with a teenage daughter, must have been a major effort.

We give succour to those who are just plain lazy and who want to take from a country that pretends to care.  Yet someone who has obvious problems and who has done as much as she can to get herself working and not to be a burden on the state has been turned down.  If she hadn't gone out to work, hadn't tried hard and faced fears to get work, she'd still have various allowances coming in.  But, having made the effort, she's treated like a second-class citizen and I know for a fact that she's worth more than that.

We live in a country that has few priorities except to be seen to be politically correct.  This is a country that has lost its way and should be ashamed of itself.

I live in the United Kingdom and I can honestly say that though I may previously have wondered about its policies I thought of them as being mistaken rather than wrong.  Now I am ashamed.  Ashamed to be part of this country that licks the ass of others so that it can be seen by other nations to be caring and compassionate.  What parent ignores its own children while giving refuge to its neighbours?  What parent watches their children suffer whist it tends to the wounds of others?

I am utterly sick of this country, its policies, its holier-than-thou stance and its ability to treat its own like scum.

I am ashamed to be a citizen here.
